Identification

  • FULL Current Australian Drivers Licences with photo id accepted.
  • International Renters must provide International Drivers Licences written in English in addition your passport must be presented. * Age restrictions and conditions do apply.
  • All hirers must be a minimum of 21years of age.

Pick Up Service

CY Rent a Car provides a complimentary pick up service from your accommodation - subject to prior arrangements.

Airport Drop off Charge

Subject to prior arrangements all vehicles returned to the Gold Coast Coolangatta Airport must be parked in the Car Rental Car Park - BAY 11 a $45 charge applies.

Subject to prior arrangements all vehicles returned to the Brisbane Domestic & International Airport must be parked at the short-term Public Car Park a $89 - $129 charge applies. *special instructions apply

Fuel

The hirer is liable to CY Rent a Car for the retail cost of fuel where the vehicle is returned with less fuel than it had at the commencement of the hire. A $45 dollar administration fee will also be charged.

Mileage

Charges are calculated solely by reference to the vehicles odometer reading at the time of the commencement of the hire and the reading at the return of the vehicle. Vehicles must remain within 300km radius of Surfers Paradise.

Breakdown Service

CY Rent a Car provides 24 hour vehicle breakdown service - RACQ 1800 648058, the information is provided on the key tags. The hirer shall not carry out or authorise any repairs on the vehicle without written approval from CY Rent a Car.  A $60 call out fee will apply if hirer is at fault.

Traffic Violations

The hirer is liable for all fines and penalties imposed for parking or traffic violations which occur during the hire period.  A $45 administration fee appliers per violation.

Maps / Street Directories / GPS Systems

Street Directories are supplied complimentary, $50 replacement fee will be charged to the hirer for any loss or damage to the directory. GPS Systems are available for hire for $15 per day; the hirer is liable for replacement cost for any damage or loss of the system.

Child Seats

Are available on request, prior arrangements must be made.

Car Return

  • The hirer will return the vehicle to CY Rent a Car on the date specified on the signed contract, in the same condition as when received fair wear and tear accepted.
  • In the event that at the time of the return of the vehicle, charges payable are not known by CY Rent a Car, such charges will be paid by the hirer immediately upon the issue of an invoice.
  • Time charges are calculated on minimum 24hour periods commencing on the day the rental begins.
  • Client is liable for costs if the vehicle is returned in an excessively dirty condition.
  • Client is liable for any late fee's incured.
Damage

For all hirers aged 26yo+

  • The hirer is liable to any damage caused to the vehicle or third party property.
  • Basic Insurance is included in the price of the rental with standard excess of $3000.
  • Where damage is caused to the vehicle as a result of the negligence of the hirer or additional driver in a single vehicle collision or incident, the hirer shall be responsible for the repair of the damage limited to the sum of $3000.
  • Excess Reduction is an optional extra at $18 per day. This reduces your excess from $3000 to $500 should there be any damage to the vehicle or $25 per day to $350.
  • Not withstanding payment of the Excess Damage Cover Fee if the vehicle was used, operated or driven in violation or any of the provisions of the rental contract, the hirer is liable for all damage to the vehicle and all other costs or claims including those of third parties, arriving from the incident causing the damage.
  • The hirer is responsible for the time the vechicle is laid up due to damage caused by the hirer.  The hirer will be liable to pay the usual hire fee's whilst the vehicle is being repaired.
  • Excess reduction for people movers and convertibles is $18-$25 p.d. to reduce excess from $3000 to $1000 or $500.

For all hirers aged 21-25yrs

  • Surcharge of $44 per day on all rentals.
  • Insurance excess is standard $2500

General Hire Terms and Conditions

(a) The hirer acknowledges that the vehicle is the property of CY Rent a Car.

(b) The hirer and any person to whom the hirer directs, with the consent of Cy Rent A Car, the charges in any way incurred under this agreement to be billed are jointly and severally liable to pay CY Rent A Car on demand all charges, which include the matters set out hereinafter.

  1. Payment for all estimated charges are payable at the time of hire by cash or credit card. Payment of additional charges are due at the return of the vehicle and ir; the same manner.
  2. If the hirer provides a credit card to pay for hire charges, the hirer authorises CY Rent a Car to bill all charges to that credit card even after the return of the vehicle.
  3. The hirer may be required to pay the owner a deposit by way of security for return of the vehicle to the owner's premises, less the any charges payable to the owner by reason of the hirer's use or custody of the vehicle.

(c) The vehicle must not be driven, used or operated:-

1. By any person except the hirer or addition driver who are 21years of age or older.

2. At a distance more than 300 kilometres from Surfers Paradise.

3. In any race, speed or contest.

4. On any non-designated road, beach or foreshore.

5. For towing or propelling any trailer or other vehicle.

6. By hirer to any other person while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

7. In any instance where the speedometer of the vehicle has been tampered.

8. For transportation which may be interpreted as operating a public conveyance.

9. By any persons giving CY Rent A Car fictitious, false or fraudulent name or address.

10. In a negligent of careless manner.

(d) The owner is not liable to the hirer or any person claiming by or through the hirer for:

11. Any cost or delay arising from breakdown, mechanical defect or accident or by reason of the vehicle being unsuitable for the purpose of the Hirer, or

12. Any loss or damage to any property including property left in the vehicle, any other vehicle or at the office of CY Rent a Car before, during or after the return thereof. The hirer assumes all risk of such loss or damage and waives all claims against CY Rent a Car and holds CY Rent a Car harmless from all claims or suits.

13. Any physical injury suffered by the hirer or any person occupying the vehicle with the consent of the hirer as a result of or by, through or in connection with a mechanical failure or structural defect in the vehicle which gives rise to or is allegedly responsible for a collision with any other vehicle, person or property.

(e) CY Rent A Car may require immediate possession of the vehicle and the hirer shall on demand by CY Rent A Car forthwith return the vehicle to CY Rent A Car if:

1. The hirer is in breach of any terms and conditions

2. The vehicle is changed or damaged in anyway

(f) The hirer is liable for any fee's and costs incurred by collection agencies.

Cancelations

  • Any deposit toward bookings are forfeited due to cancelations.  Early returns forfeit 1 day rental.  All insurances paid are non-refundable.
